Our Host:

Richness of culture and warm hospitality of South India - I am thankful to people from South India in general but particularly from the city of Tirunelveli for organizing this 18th Annual Conference as International Conference with full warmth and kind hospitality. Tirunelveli has excellent climate and richness of Tamil culture. The environment is cozy and comfortable. The All India Association for Educational Research (AIAER) is appreciative of the efforts of the Management, Staff, Students, and Administration of collaborating institutions for the wonderful arrangements.

AIAER is becoming International in outlook and action - The conferences of AIAER are becoming events of global importance. We have succeeded in organizing International Conferences at Amritsar Northern India, Rajkot Western India, and now Tirunelveli in Southern India.
The next International Conference, the 19th International Conference on a very interesting theme of ‘Learning Organization in a Learning World’ will be held in April 2005 at Bangkok http://www.kmutt.ac.th/ICLORD2005/index.htm . The Bangkok Chapter is supporting the upcoming event.

AIAER is experimenting in South India - The State Chapters of AIAER have been experimenting by organizing state level conferences by using the rich tradition of networking like that which was started by Dhavangere. One more new experiment was shown by the city Chapter of Pondicherry that could organize a city supported National seminar that was attended by people from all over India and abroad. This kind of spirit of experimentation has begun in South India.

Other State Chapters also experimenting - I may quickly add that other State Chapters of AIAER are creating excellence by bringing in different kinds of flavors of experimentation that add to the strength of AIAER. Many of our other State Chapters have shown dramatic developments to improve the image of AIAER. The AIAER works through a team spirit characterized by healthy competition and mutual cooperation for strengthening the roots for availing good fruits.

Your special team of Tirunelveli - Apart from this general thanks, my special thanks go to the organizing team at Tirunelveli particularly Dr. S. Francisca and Dr. C. Kumar Charlie Paul. I am also grateful to the delegates, speakers, and others for coming from different parts of the world particularly our delegates and guests coming from other countries.

Thankfulness to members of AIAER - In the end, I would like to thank the life members and other members of AIAER who are doing their best in their own way. Lastly, I must particularly thank the office bearers of AIAER. I am hopeful and I assure you that AIAER will create a win-win environment in the field of educational research. Our cooperation with international bodies and membership from other countries is of particular interest to AIAER. Let me assert by saying educational research got a step-motherly treatment in terms of inputs it receives, but AIAER will struggle and succeed. Educational research will further decline if we do not change our approach and create trust in the minds of stakeholders. We need to upgrade the quality as decided by its users and liberate its functioning educational research from old mind sets. The mechanistic approach to research ought to be substituted by organic approach to research.
