Richard Watson Todd, Liberal Arts Faculty
at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Bangkok
Thailand on the topic of:
'Empowering Students to Change the
Real World' - University education, especially in
a country like Thailand where seniority is respected, needs to avoid
two potential pitfalls. Firstly, tertiary education runs the risk
of becoming engrossed in academic issues and divorced from reality
with the consequence that assignments for students become exercises
in academic theorising rather than tasks which effect change in
the real world. Secondly, there is a danger that students and others
in subordinate positions, perhaps overly respectful of their seniors,
do not attempt to speak up and change the status quo when such changes
are necessary. This presentation reports on two attempts to overcome
these potential problems as part of postgraduate programmes in English
education at King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi. Click

Dr.
M Esposito, Prasena's
Think
Tank member on the topic
of:
“Emotional Intelligence and
Andragogy”: The Adult Learner - Emotional
intelligence, a type of social and personal intelligence, is important
in managing interpersonal relationships and interactions, especially
in the business and educational sphere.. Educators, that involve
frequent contact and interaction can benefit from the application
of multiple intelligences. This presentation examines how and to
what extent emotional intelligence can benefit the educational relationships,
and identifies a clear spectrum of action plans. The analogy with
the use of andragogy will then, reinforce the study to the adult
educational module and its applications in some leading edge case
studies. Results showed that all educators, to a certain degree,
utilized emotional intelligence to offer more personalized and effective
solutions for the learners. Click here
