Creativity and the Fly
A fly somehow found itself inside your house through an open window and then goes about banging its head against a different closed window.  Why?  It's obvious to that creature that the light source is right there in front of it, and it takes the shortest route to try to escape to freedom. And it's true: the shortest physical distance (just a 1/8 inch thickness of glass) to freedom would be straight ahead.  Ah but there's an invisible obstacle and that fly would need to go the opposite direction to find its freedom.
Creativity means getting to a place by exploring nonlinear routes. Actually, that way is too theoretical.
Creativity works that way. The obvious may not get you where you need to be. Creativity is the ability to explore the less obvious to solve the problem; and yes, intellect or the ability to free ourselves from habitual patterns is certainly part of that.

Seven environments
Calm – Blocking – Oppressive – Releasing – Cautious – Nurturing – Self actualization
Conventional-Creative-Critical
1= The capacity to produce through thought or imagination; the capacity for original work

2= Any process by which something new is produced – an idea or an object including a new form or arrangement of old elements

3=The new creation must be useful to the solution of some problem

F+O+X+E = Curriculum
