Scenario:
There is no doubt that the internet is absolutely bursting at the
seams with information, so it's hardly surprising that more and more
websites are being built to help you find your way around it. Ibiblio
describes itself as an online library and digital archive, and it
claims to be home to one of the largest 'collections of collections'
on the world wide web. Not having seen every website on the internet
personally, I can't validate that claim, but you only have to look
at the collection index to realise that it's certainly vast enough
to be a serious contender. Broken down into categories such as Arts
& Recreation, Languages, and Religion & Theology, you can
click your way through to a powerhouse of information on pretty much
any subject you'd care to think of and, unlike a traditional library,
there's far more than just pages of text hidden away in these archives.
For example, within the Asian History subsection you can access a
page full of audio samples taken from traditional Nepalese music,
to really give you a flavour of the culture. Or why not visit the
Project Gutenberg pages to download classic literature in digital
form, either as a plain text file or as an audio file read out by
a synthesised voice. It might sound a bit strange hearing Shakespeare's
"A Midsummer's Nights Dream" spoken in this toneless
computerised voice, but as a resource for the visually impaired it
could prove invaluable. |

Scenario:
Your CEO gave you the responsibility to close a very important business
deal with a Japanese client. The client will visit you at your office.
You have no experience with Japanese culture and business customs;
how to welcome him, what to offer him, when to start talking business
and if and what kind of present should you give him.., all these questions
stuck in your mind!
Doing business with people coming from different cultures, how to
dress, how to start the conversation, when to talk about the business,
to what restaurant should you invite them and which gift is the best
fit. Or would you know on how and if to talk business with a German
or Spanish business partner during lunch, and even more so, when at
all lunch would start; 1130am, 1200am, 01pm or even 02pm. The answers
and much more cultural business tips are available at Executiveplanet
Check this site to get sensitive tips on cultural differences and
on how to ensure successful business with people from different cultures. |

Nationmaster
is for the Global manager, who wants to know more about the world
we live in. Its a statisticians dream, but we shouldn't hold that
against it as it's proved to me that even the most boring topics can
come alive when given the interactive treatment. Nationmaster
draws statistical data from a variety of qualified sources, such as
the CIA World Factbook featured here on Webscape just a few weeks
ago, and organises them into interlinked categories that allow you
to manipulate and use these figures to get a better understanding
of global trends and influences. With more than 300 data sets on topics
such as population, economy, crime, environment, media, and the military,
it contains a profile of each country, including statistics, maps,
and flags to provide the most comprehensive overview possible. As
well as allowing users to create their own graphs to compare individual
countries, the site is also searchable if you're looking for information
on a particular subject or country. For the casual surfer,
the Top Graphs table contains links to some amazing statistics that
you wouldn't necessarily think to investigate, or click through to
the interesting Factoids to learn such statistical gems as the fact
that Kenyan women work 35% longer than their menfolk! |

Scenario:
Managers are always in need of News, relevant news, objective news
and most of all News from different sources and looking at the News
from different ankles. A Novel Approach to News - Google
News presents information culled from approximately 4,500
news sources worldwide and automatically arranged to present the most
relevant news first. Topics are updated continuously throughout the
day, so you will see new stories each time you check the page. Google
has developed an automated grouping process for Google
News that pulls together related headlines and photos from thousands
of sources worldwide -- enabling you to see how different news organizations
are reporting the same story. You pick the item that interests you,
then go directly to the site which published the account you wish
to read.
Google News is
highly unusual in that it offers a news service compiled solely by
computer algorithms without human intervention. While the sources
of the news vary in perspective and editorial approach, their selection
for inclusion is done without regard to political viewpoint or ideology.
While this may lead to some occasionally unusual and contradictory
groupings, it is exactly this variety that makes Google News a valuable
source of information on the important issues of the day.
You can trace the history of a developing issue by clicking the "sort
by date" function on the page containing all reports on a given
topic. This will arrange the stories in chronological order, with
the most recent report placed first. |

Scenario: Successful
and responsible managers of today will sure look into the furture,
but still won't neglect what has happened in the past. Therefore a
good site to prepare your virtual dive into the history– check
it at the BBC
History website
Diary extract:
13th October 1660 'I went out to Charing Cross to see Major-Generall
Harrison hanged, drawn, and quartered - which was done there - he
looking as cheerfully as any man could do in that condition. He
was presently cut down and his head and his heart shown to the people,
at which there was great shouts of joy.'
Background information: There was nothing a 17th century
crowd liked better than a good execution. If there was nothing happening
at Tyburn it might be fun to go and see the lunatics in Bedlam.
There would certainly be blood and guts enjoyably spilt at the bear-baiting
or bull-baiting on the south bank.

Scenario:
Managers live in large houses with many different items and many dangerous
spots for their childrens. Many dangers lies in substance used in
everybodies household. Unsafe Home is a site dedicated to educating
the public, specifically parents and caregivers, about environmental
toxins that affect children's health. Check a lot of very usefull
information at Unsafehome.
“Why do I need educating?” The reason is simple! Manufactures
of common household products have not told us the truth about the
dangers in using these products on a daily basis. The ultimate goal
should be to eliminate children's exposure to man-made toxic substances
by ensuring everyone’s right-to-know what is in their commercial
products. |
